Library
Since its foundation in 1848 DGGV is equipped with a library. The DGGV founders, Alexander von Humboldt und Leopold von Buch, regarded this library as a central arrangement for the scientific knowledge management inside the flourishing geoscience community. The library represents the fortune of the society and implies the entire realm of geoscience resources including digital media. The DGGV library is available not only for DGGV members but for all workers dealing with geosciences.
Use of the DGGV library
The main part of the DGGV library is available at the library Golm, which i spart of the library of Potsdam University. Every library in Germany is able to use books and media from DGGV library by interlending. Memers of DGGV can loan books etc. via letter or E-Mail.
Book and journal donations - a really good feeling
Donations in form of books or journals for the library are welcome. They are important to extent the volume of resources of the library.
What are we looking for?
- Publications (books etc.)
- Dark literature (field-trip guides, conference volumes, unpublished contributions etc.)
- Journals (on request)
- Geological maps and manuscripts
- Other media (on request)
Our inventory shows a very large gap from 1920 to 1945.
What do we not collect?
- Papers without a relation to geosciences
- Offprints
DGGV provides a contribution receipt about the value of the donated books. Boxes for transport of books can be made available.
Please ask the DGGV librarian, Dipl.-Geol. Andreas Küppers.
