Who are we?
More than 100 members from 15 countries (Germany, Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Chile). We meet alternately in a Latin American country and in Germany in professional workshops.

Members’ expertise covers geology, volcanology, paleontology, mining, environment, geo-risk management and climatology. So far, we have held 14 meetings between Germany (Freiberg, Berlin-Kiel, Heidelberg, Göttingen, Greifswald) and Latin America (Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica [twice], Brazil, Colombia and Mexico).

What lies ahead?
Today’s dynamic world requires almost constant adaptation. Against the background of growing geo-environmental concerns, geoscientific knowledge dissemination becomes a real challenge. This is where GOAL plays an important role, e.g., with the upcoming workshops on ”Geoscience Communication”. Our goal is clearer and more effective communication within geoscience research centers, companies and educational institutions.
