GeoUtrecht 2020 – Virtual conference – 21-26 August 2020

Dear Geoscientists and Colleagues,

We would like to thank you very much for your overwhelmingly positive response we saw in the now closed abstract submission for GeoUtrecht 2020 which will be held as a virtual conference on 21–26th of August 2020.

Due to your response, we have now extended the conference with a “pre-conference field trip day” which will bring together a series of presentations on virtual geological fieldtrips, different approaches and latest technology developments – a very important topic for many universities at this moment with the Covid-19 pandemic causing major restrictions around the visits of outcrops.

We are delighted to offer you now the comprehensive conference program based on the 234 abstracts submitted, many from early career scientists. Please be reminded that we still have the possibility to receive your suggestions on events (e.g. for your working groups). Also the exhibition hall is still available for our sponsors to join.

As a next step, authors are required to upload presentation materials in advance of the meeting as per deadlines provided. The meeting will require registration for access to the MS-Teams online system to be used. However, no fee is charged to participate. Nevertheless, and in case you are not yet a member of one of the two non-profit sponsors DGGV and KNGMG, we would certainly like to encourage you to become a member as a courtesy, and to allow us recovery of part of the costs.

Albeit virtual, we can assure you that also in 2020 you will be able to meet up with a large geoscience community, as before. Together with your input, we are looking forward to make this meeting a success.

Yours sincerely,

Jürgen Grötsch and Liviu Matenco
