The Archive for the History of Geology

The archive gathers informations from and about scientists from geology, geophysics, mineralogy and palaeontology, especially from central Europe. Its collections in the University Library in Freiburg/Germany store more than 100,000 documents. These are scientific and personal correspondences, photographs and biographic informations. They reflect more than 150 years of very active discussions about hypotheses in earth sciences and personal living conditions which can be studied after a reservation in a special reading room (sammlungen@ub.uni-freiburg.de).
